Home Improvements – Good Books – Sit Downs and Oh Boy

I sat on the floor thumbing through the old books that were I the book shelf. They have been sitting in that shelf for 13 years and this is the first that I have looked at them. So many memories. Each page is filled with stories that I know and feel so deeply. A rush of nostalgia flooded over me again and again.

Sitting down is a real bad thing to do when you are doing renovations this big. But the body hurts so bad that it can hardly move and a break is sooooooo good!

Looking at the stuff piled everywhere around our basement makes me realize that I MUST GET RID OF IT. And it has to happen now… or maybe soon… or maybe next week… or…

The internal struggle that I face with this is way more than I can handle today. I have to get the job done in the next few days… or over the week… or when I can…

Do you smell procrastination and reticence to move forward on this “stuff toss”. Yes you do. These are priceless bits of my life that I can enjoy one more time by simply looking at it all. Oh the wonderful memories… wonderful loving memories.

But I don’t need the 24 inch long row of “Helping Hands” any longer. I don’t really 36 inches of National Geographical Magazines either. And the… Ooops I better stop… The flood of memories are coming again.

It all started with that really heavy rain that lasted so many days a few weeks ago… a damp carpet… a smelly basement… and the very sharp knife that started the first cut in our carpet and ……

I gotta get to the gym. Oh boy…

Good to see you able to get on with tasks other than those of "Dr. Dad". Looking at, remembering, trying to move along is the story of my life now. How would we ever move if we wanted/needed to is my motivator.

Glad to hear Alida is feeling better.
