The Jetlev-Flyer is a Gotta Have Item

Have you ever had that feeling that you just have to try something? You know, like your great grandfather had when he saw his first automobile. Or maybe that was your Great, Great, Great Grandfather.

Whatever or whoever… you have experienced that also. Maybe it was a computer game – or even a computer. Most women that I know remember when their husband bought that first machine… and his hands shook as he took it lovingly from the box… and then he kept the box until long after the computer had died.

Well ladies and gentlemen here is another amazing item that will be on most guys ‘wish list’ around the Kawartha Lakes are where we live. It is maybe the most fun thing that I have seen for a long time.

And it was invented by a Canadian by the name of Raymond Li. It has taken Raymond 10 years to get it off the ground so to speak.

Caution ladies up front, if your husband looks seriously at this it will ding your family around $136,000 for on unit.

It is called the Jetlev-Flyer. It is a jet propulsion pack that straps to your back and then allows you to fly upwards to 10 metres or 30 feet above the water.

Many of you are familiar with the Jetski, a powerful watercraft that sizzles along the water… kind of like a motorcycle on the water. Well the Jetlev takes it up a notch.

I’ve gotta have one! It would make me the coolest Grandpa on the water next summer.

You need to take a look at the video to see just how it works.

After you are strapped into the apparatus there is a long fire hose kind of thing that hanging down from your back… and it runs back to the small, unmanned watercraft behind you. The water craft holds the mechanism that sucks water up out of the lake and pushes it up the fire hose that is attached to your back… where the water then is jettisoned out the two nozzles firing downwards.

This is so cool!

There is some hesitation if I had to use it in our area only… the weeds are pretty thick in our lakes in later summer… and the intake could get plugged.

On a Jetski when that happens you simply jump overboard and reach down to pull the weeds out…

On this thing you fall down from whatever height you have reached and go under with a 10 metre(30 foot) fire hose and the back pack forcing you down into the water depths… oh boy… With the fire hose still full of water and maybe with the power unit on the craft still firing water you way… it will be hard to swim back to the little craft to clean the weeds.

Having tried water skiing and watched many others I can tell you that when you hang on to the rope, you will go under further. Should you hit the water with this thing on your back, running full tilt… you could well be eating salad from the bottom of the Lake!

There are some draw backs to say the least.

I don’t know for sure but maybe Raymond Li watched a Fireman holding his Fire Hose… and saw the huge pressure that it has pushing back on the Firemen.

However he came up with the idea, it is smart.

The article that I read stated that many resorts are looking into the possible lease of this unit for their business.

So on this cold February, wintry day, let your imagination go… strap it on and away you go.

Every Grandpa should have one!
